You can learn a lot about what makes novels so special and interesting just from thinking about the compromises that have to be made to get all those words onto the screen. Likewise, a good film adaptation can also make you think about a book in a new way , just as a good actor can become the character who before was only a vague sketch in your head. So I'd assumed that the hugely successful Academy Award-winning adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird, starring the great Gregory Peck would provide plenty of good material.
